These photographs embody the personal conflict I have with my household contribution to plastic pollution. I have become obsessed with trying to reuse my household plastic garbage in other ways and avoid as much as possible purchasing single use plastics products. The collection of plastic is annoying as it takes up valuable space but in my refusal to evacuate these plastic contents out of my house I found a vague visual appeal in the plastic parts. I began playing with the idea of juxtaposing the broken down plastic forms with color that evoke the feeling of water through monoprints while photographing the process. The photographs capture the ambiguous nature of the subject while the harm it does to our environment is devastating. The reality is someday my plastic rejects will find their way to polluting the environment and I will have contributed to this.
