The day I discovered photography I was a child staring down into our outdoor trash bin, puzzled as to why someone would throw out our family photos. I recall that moment so vividly, tipping over the trash bin sideways so I could reach my little, childish arms into it, to take them all out and keep them safe by hiding them. That day my choice to retrieve the discarded photos opened my eyes to a whole new world. I treasured these family photos because they taught me that photography could enable me endless possibilities of capturing a moment in an instant and possessing it.
